How much can I expect to pay for an MRI?

We have a few Standard MRI packages that you can choose from:

The Bronze Standard MRI package is only £199 and includes a 1-part MRI*, on the same day or the earliest possible appointment and your report. A written report of the results will be sent to your Healthcare Professional within 2 Working Days.

You can add a CD of your MRI images for an additional £25.

The Silver Standard MRI package is priced at £299 and includes a 1-part MRI*, on the same day or the earliest possible appointment. A CD of your MRI images is included, and can be taken home on the day of the scan. A written report of the results will be sent to your Healthcare Professional within 2 Working Days.

The Gold Standard MRI package is priced at £349 and includes a 1-part MRI*, on the same day or the earliest possible appointment. Your results will be read by a consultant radiologist who will write a report, which will be sent to your Healthcare Professional within 2 Working Days.

The Platinum Standard MRI package is priced at £399 and includes a 1-part MRI*, on the same day or the earliest possible appointment. A CD of your MRI images is included, and can be taken home on the day of the scan. A written report of the results will be sent to a GP/Specialist who shall conduct a virtual review of your results.

*You can add additional body areas for £160 per area. There is an additional charge of £150 for all contrast-enhanced MRI scans. Please note that all contrast-enhanced MRI scans must be referred by a Healthcare Professional, and is therefore unavailable to any self-referring patient.

The Bronze Open MRI package is only £399 and includes a 1-part** Open MRI, on the same day or the earliest possible appointment and your report. A written report of the results will be sent to your Healthcare Professional within 7 Working Days.

You can add a CD of your MRI images for an additional £25.

The Silver Open MRI package is priced at £449 and includes a 1-part** Open MRI, on the same day or the earliest possible appointment. A CD of your MRI images is included, and can be taken home on the day of the scan. A written report of the results will be sent to your Healthcare Professional within 2 Working Days.

The Gold Open MRI package is priced at £509 and includes a 1-part** Open MRI, on the same day or the earliest possible appointment. Your results will be read by 2 consultant radiologists who will write 2 individual reports, which will be sent to your Healthcare Professional within 2 Working Days.

The Platinum Open MRI package is priced at £599 and includes a 1-part** Open MRI, on the same day or the earliest possible appointment. A CD of your MRI images is included, and can be taken home on the day of the scan. A written report of the results will be sent to a GP/Specialist who shall conduct a virtual review of your results.

**You can add additional body areas for £200 per area. There is an additional charge of £150 for all contrast-enhanced MRI scans. Please note that all contrast-enhanced MRI scans must be referred by a Healthcare Professional, and is therefore unavailable to any self-referring patient.

Can I use my Health Insurance to pay for my MRI?

You can use your Health Insurance to pay for your MRI*, by using the process below:

Referral: Insurance providers very in terms of accepting referrals. You will most likely require a referral from a Consultant recognised by your insurer. Your insurance provider may make a recommendation, or you can arrange this via your GP.

Check your policy: Once you have your referral, please call your Insurance provider to check if your policy will cover the cost of the procedure. In some circumstances, you may be required to cover some of the cost, so please ensure you advise us prior to your booking. You will be provided with an Authorisation number, which you will need to provide prior to your appointment.

Make a booking: You are now ready to book your appointment! Please ensure that you provide the following information at the time of booking:

  • Name of Insurance Provider
  • Your Policy Number
  • Your Authorisation Number

You will only need to pay any insurance excess or shortfall. Usually the insurer will cover the full cost of the MRI examination.

*Please note that any claims are subject to the policy that you hold and the agreement with your Insurance Provider. If you are unable to provide an authorisation number, please note that we may ask you to cover the cost of your scan and reclaim the expense back from your insurer.

Can I have my scan through the NHS?

We accept NHS patients through the NHS referral process and there are a number of NHS Trusts who routinely refer patients for open and closed MRI scans.
